Goal setting doesn’t really work…

As someone who actively promotes the importance of setting goals, it pains me to say that. But it’s true. Just look at the statistics…

Only 20% of people ever set goals and just 6% ever achieve them.*

Maybe you’re the majority who never set a goal. You’d rather not spend time wishing where you could be, knowing you likely won’t end there. Or you just don’t know where to start so you never try.

Or maybe you’re in the 20% who do set goals but never achieve them. Year after year, you fall short. You are more discouraged by how far off you are than encouraged by the fact that at least you tried. You measure your success by how “close” you came and how long you stuck with it rather than how many goals you accomplished. It’s exhausting…

For the 6%, you did it. You set a goal and you hit it. But you know there’s more for you. You might feel like your goal was too small or you only accomplished it by brute force. You’ve done it before but you want more. You want to set (and HIT) some audacious goals. But you don’t know how.

I’ve been in all three of the categories above. Too many times I’ve set goals and I’ve been far from achieving them. New Year’s resolutions brought nothing but another year of “missing the mark” (often by a long shot).

Then one year, things changed…

In 2016, my wife and I set a five year goal to move from Western Washington to beautiful Hawaii. A year and a half later, we owned a home in Maui and moved there full-time. Goal accomplished.

But this wasn’t a fluke.

I set another goal that my business (Open Door Capital) would own $50 million in real estate in three years. In just one year, we hit this goal. By year three, Open Door Capital owned over $250 million in real estate. Just a year after that, we’re closing in on a billion.

I didn’t stop there. I’ve personally set goals for my physical health, my family, business, faith, and marriage and I’ve seen most of them come to fruition.

And these haven’t been small, easy goals. People have told me I’m crazy for the goals I’ve set. Shoot, I’ve even thought I was crazy at times. But I’ve still hit many of my goals, often in a shorter time than I initially planned.

I set another goal that my business (Open Door Capital) would own $50 million in real estate in three years. In just one year, we hit this goal. By year three, Open Door Capital owned over $250 million in real estate. Just a year after that, we’re closing in on a billion.”

So what’s my secret?

I found a magic genie lamp…

Okay, maybe not. But I stopped treating my goals like a magic genie lamp - just speaking them into existence and waiting for my goals to happen on their own.

I stopped taking it day by day, forcing action that wasn’t sustainable.

I stopped relying on sheer willpower to hit my goals, exhausting myself in the process.

I stopped striving for something that felt out of reach - not because it was unattainable but because I lacked direction to get there.

Instead, I created a framework to accomplish my goals. A simple, repeatable process.

I crafted a clear picture of where I wanted to be in 10 years. Then I worked backwards to determine what I needed to do today to accomplish that goal. Some call this “goal setting to the now”.

I turn my long term goals into daily action. Small, simple steps that would eventually lead to huge, massive success.

The beauty of that success is it never comes as a surprise. In fact, if you follow this process, you’ll be surprised if you don’t see some form of success. Sounds crazy, right?

I won’t lie and say I hit every goal that I’ve set. Many times I miss the mark. But I’ve hit 100% more goals (and BIGGER goals) than I ever did before following this process.

The good news is there’s nothing secret or special about this framework. Just like there’s nothing secret or special about dieting and losing weight.

Sometimes you just need some guidance. Some coaching. A process to follow and guide you from point A to point B. Like a personal trainer who creates a meal plan for you to follow and holds you accountable until you lose the weight you knew you could lose if you stuck to the diet.

This goal setting (or goal HITTING) process works in the same way.

I’ve taught this “goal hitting process” to hundreds of people who struggled in the past to see any results.

People who struggled to know what goals to set.

People who were tired of relying on luck and happenstance to guide their life's journey.

People who were discouraged by years of little or no success in their goals.

Maybe you can relate to those feelings. This is how my friend Patrick felt until he attended a goal setting event I hosted where I shared the step-by-step process I use to set (and hit) goals.

The day after the event, I got this text from Patrick…

And Patrick isn’t alone. Check out what others have said after I taught them this same goal-hitting process:

In the past, I’ve only taught this goal setting to small, exclusive groups of friends or family. But for the first time ever, I’ll be hosting an all day, digital event teaching this exact goal setting process.

This “2023 Digital Goal Setting Retreat” will be hosted on January 11th from 10am to 3pm Pacific Time.

During this event, you and your partner will:

  • Learn how to evaluate your life to know how to set the RIGHT goals

  • Create a plan for your life that accurately represents your ideal vision of who and where you want to be

  • Develop annual goals that line up with your vision of your future together

  • Break down those annual goals into quarterly goals and establish the habits and processes that you need to do (or stop doing) to get there

  • Develop a clear process with steps you can take NOW to accomplish your goals

  • Learn how to periodically reevaluate yourself so you continue to stay on track with your goals

  • Learn how to align your goals with your spouse/partner (and how to get them on board if they aren’t goal setters themselves)

By the end of this event, you’ll be fully equipped to set the right goals (personally and with your spouse), have a clear plan to accomplish them, and a process to keep you on track throughout the year.

But I’ll be honest. This event isn’t for everyone. In fact, if any of the below is true, than I highly encourage you NOT to register:

❌ You’d rather leave your future to luck and happenstance

❌ You and your partner aren’t ready to align on goals and priorities for 2023

❌ You are close minded and stuck on the typical “New Year's Resolution” goal setting process

❌ You aren’t ready to take daily, consistent action required to see results

❌ You and your spouse are more focused on short term enjoyment than long term success

If that’s not you then I truly believe this event will make the next year of your life the most impactful year of growth you've ever had - one that aims and launches you into a future that fires you up!

So what’s the cost?

In the past, I hosted similar one day, goal setting events for thousands of dollars (no, seriously).

And I’ve had those same people come back the next year and pay me more to do it again. The ROI for them was clear!

But I want this to be accessible to everyone. This year, I’m charging $299 total. BUT if you register for this event before December 31, I’m discounting registration to just $99 TOTAL.

The best part is 100% of profits for this event are going to the Tim Tebow foundation to fight human trafficking! None of this money is going in my pocket.

In fact, you’re helping me achieve one of my goals. To give back and donate to charity while coaching and educating others (you) on how to find financial freedom so you can do the same.

If you’re ready to take action in 2023, click the button below to register. Unfortunately, the platform we are hosting this digital event does limit the number of attendees so spots are limited. If you can’t join the event live on January 11, register anyways to receive the free session recordings (no additional cost or upsell).

I truly hope you take advantage of this opportunity to make 2023 the best year yet! See you on January 11th.
